Town in the Vega Baja
The town of Bigastro is located in the heart of the Vega Baja (Low
Fertile valley), to the east of Orihuela on the C95 the Torrevieja - Orihuela road. This municipality of 6500 inhabitants belongs to the province of Alicante. Bigastro is surrounded by nature, woodland and traditional farms. The people, their traditions and gastronomy turn it into an incomparable place. The main occupation of the residents is the construction industry. The town enjoys a very nice municipal park a variety of shops, restaurants and bars. The capital and historic town of Orihuela is a distance of 5 kilometres away.
La Pedrera
The municipal park de La Pedrera, in the municipality of Bigastro, has an area of 502.420 square metres. Here the many Mediterranean pines are the most important of the province: more than 30,000 trees in an area of almost 200,000 square meters. They do not belong to the native vegetation, but they have been very well accepted by the land in which the works of forest re-forestation has been developed, uninterrupted since1982.
